‘What it’s like to work for OnPoint Mortgages’
Phoebe Simmons – Business Development Manager
After the birth of my two sons I came to the conclusion that I couldn’t and didn’t want to return to a 9-6, plus Saturday job. I loved my role and the industry I had given many years to but the thought of having to put my child in Nursery fulltime just so I could be in the office physically, felt a bit soul destroying.
I was desperate to find the balance between my career and my children and felt like in order to have one, I had to sacrifice the other. Then I made contact with Lee (we had been business associates for a few years) and to hear he had set up his business and left his job working in a an office as mortgage broker in a bid to find a better work life balance for his own family, I was really inspired. Lee and Akash offered me a position as their BDM part time and flexibly and I can honestly say I haven’t looked back. I feel extremely lucky to be part of a company that puts family at the centre of our working week, without compromising the service and standards our customer receive. If anything, this culture actually means that as employees, we actually clock up more working hours in a week because we actually want to and can do more without the unnecessary commute. I get to have a career and add value to their business without missing a bath time or a bed time story with my kids. All of this means that I feel I have more dedication and enthusiasm to work hard and a greater drive to contribute to the success of the business.’

OnPoint Mortgages has changed my life in a number of ways but most of all it has allowed me to be a better father to my children and a better advisor to my clients. The company embraces the ‘happy people excel’ ethos and after a string of employers who never compromised on “money making” and put their own needs first they were a refreshing change to my life. Since joining my career has progressed at a pace faster than ever allowing me to not only expand my knowledge and client base but allowing me the time to spend on providing bespoke advice to each of my clients as opposed to treating them as a sales opportunity.
The satisfaction I get from giving valuable advice to those in need is ten-fold over lining the pockets of another one track business who give nothing back.
I cannot thank OnPoint Mortgages enough and would strongly advise anyone else looking to make the move to do it and not think twice, you won’t find a better company culture in the market.

Working from home comes in very handy for mothers, as school run is always on time and I am never stuck in traffic. Every single day I look forward to being in front of my screen with headphones on, knowing for a fact that all the OnPoint team members are just a call away and the work is already waiting on my desk for me to enjoy. Working with OPM has made my routine busy and my life happy. Monday to Friday goes so quickly, before I realise it and my world slows down over the weekends and honestly I prefer it this way.
Back in August 2017 when I had a meeting with Lee and Akash, I told them about the stressful time I have been going through in my career and that I had nowhere to go. They both kindly pulled me out of that mess and since then I have not looked back. At OPM my knowledge grows every day, my level of confidence is at an all-time high and of course my earning multiply as a by product.
“Give someone a fish and you feed them for a day; teach them to fish and you feed them for a lifetime”- I learnt to fish at OPM!
